PTO Meeting Minutes - January 7, 2014 Attendance: Erica Burns, Jennifer Perreault, Lindsay Siano, Melodie Goodwin, Angela Morrissey
1. Budget - A. The only pending payment is for $50.00 for the room rental for the Christmas party.
2. Projects - A. Playground fundraiser to coincide with Newton School 100th birthday next year. Lindsay will look into a brick company to use for the brick fundraiser. Also talked about a golf tournament fundraiser. Lindsay volunteered to be in charge of this project. Planning to set up a separate account for the playground.
Also talked about holding a mystery dinner at the Elks Club or Mason building.
B. Benches - Talked about some benches to be installed in the front of the school for parents to sit and wait at pick up. Liked the style that is out front of the chamber of commerce. Lindsay volunteered to be in charge of this project. Sent an email to the carpentry teachers at the Franklin County Technical School and asked if they would be interested in a job like this. A picture was provided with the email. waiting for a response with a bid.
3. Events - A. Coins For Coats drive to be held February 5th though the 12th. All money will go to Warm Newton Children. In need of extra large plastic containers for the drive/penny wars. Jennifer P. volunteered to be in charge of this project.
B. Math Night to be the last day of the coat drive and penny wars, February 12th. Mel to confirm this date.
C. Movie Night to be scheduled at the end of February. The screen will be installed very soon.
D. Bingo for Books is scheduled for March 7th. Mel will confirm this date.
E. Spring Book Fair is scheduled for May 20th-23rd. It's Buy One Get One!
F. TKD Kick-a-thon, students obtain pledges to see how many kicks they can do. Jennifer P. volunteered to be in charge of this project.
4.Fundraisers - A. Natures Vision is going home with students this week and runs to January 27th.
B. 99 Restaurant Dining for a Cause, Lindsay volunteered to be in charge of this project. An application has been submitted for Tuesday, March 18,2014. Waiting for a response.
C. Original Works is still planned for the end of March. Will iron out details at the next meeting.
5. Other Items - A. Talked about having another PTO party at the end of the year. There was a small turnout for the party that was held over the holiday break. With a little more planning hoping for a larger turnout. Thinking of a bounce house, BBQ, possible dunk tank?
Next Meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 4th at 6pm in the library.
