Meeting Minutes
August 6th 2013
1. Review Budget- We briefly looked over the budget and discussed a few of the items
2. Events
a. Open House Aug 27th volunteers needed to hand out freebies and talk PTO should anyone ask. Dina and Erica
b. Franklin County Fair parade- Erica talked about her running into Colleen Church who runs the PTO at FSS and how she suggested all the PTOs get together and walk a float in the parade to encourage new families to join up. People in attendance thought it was a good idea and approved to move forward with it.
c. Bookfair Tentively 10/29-11/1 (spring BOGO 5/13-5/16) Dates for Fall seemed to be okay
d. Fall festival 11/1 date still seemed okay for bookfair and all festival. We discussed other ideas too.
e. We had a lengthy discussion about things we done in the past, what’s worked, what hasn’t, and ideas for events including an all school evening meal welcome back event. Will be discussed further at Sept ember meeting
3. Fundraisers
a. Butter braids 9/20-10/4. We discussed moving the pick up date to the Monday before Thanksgiving. Erica will contact MCM.
b. We discussed for a bit other fundraisers we have had what worked and issues we had in previous years. We didn’t nail anything in stone other than the butterbraids, adding in wreaths and we would like to do the Garden Cinema again.
4. Projects/Goals
a. Butterfly garden- Erica talked about upgrading our current butterfly garden to it meets the criteria of the butterfly waystations after reading an article in the paper that highlighted the one at Four Corners. It wouldn’t take much to do. All in attendance thought this was a good idea to move forward on.
b. Sign- Erica talked about the idea of having a sign installed either on the fince at the intersection at Rt 2A or right near there, that had a message board that we could update as our sandwich board is inadequate, and not many people see it. Those in attendance thought this was something worth looking into as a longer term goal.
5. September meeting will be the 9th @ 6pm in the library
