PTO Meeting Minutes - May 6, 2014
Attendance: Erica Burns, Angela Morrissey, Jennifer Perreault, Lindsay Siano
1. 2014-2015 Officer Voting
A. All in attendance voted and approved Angela Morrissey as the new PTO Vice President for the 2014-2015 school year. Welcome Angela! The Secretary position will be available starting the new school year if any one would like to help out with that.
2. Events
A. Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4th through May 10th. PTO previously voted and approved to provide a staff luncheon from The Smithsonian Chowder House for $250. A different option was presented just before our meeting with sandwiches, salads and dessert to be bought from the 2nd Street Bakery for $583.88. All in attendance voted and approved this change. The staff enjoyed cupcakes from The Smithsonian with money that was donated to the PTO to be used directly for the staff.
B. Book Fair
The next book fair is to be held on May 21st through May 23rd. Set up will be Tuesday May 20th in the library after school. Volunteers are needed to help with set up, working any days and/or during the MadLibs event to be held Friday, May 23rd and with take down. Friday May 23rd will be the Book Fair/MadLibs event with a school dance. The event will start at 5pm with dance held from 5:30 to 6:30 in the gym and end at 7pm. So far we have Lindsay Wednesday afternoon from 3:45 to 5:30pm. Angela Thursday afternoon from 3:45 to 5:30pm. Friday could use some during school hours shopping available, maybe McKenzie could help with this.
C. Field and Fun Day
Field and Fun Day is scheduled for Wednesday June 11th in the afternoon. PTO will need some volunteers for this if anyone can help. Kids will alternate after lunch and each get one hour. Set up will be at !0:30am.
3. Projects
A. Benches are still in the works. Tara found a beautiful option the only downside was the cost. All in attendance thought we should look into other options. Angela volunteered to take on this project and check with a few carpenters she knows about volunteering their time for this.
B. Butterfly Garden is still in the works. We're thinking of moving this to the side of the playground near the portable classroom. Needs to be approved first.
C. Playground is really on our minds lately too. We are wanting to get on the ball with this project and book fundraising events over the summer. Thinking of putting donation jars at school events and other businesses.
The next PTO meeting will be held sometime over the summer
